Dual Diagnosis

Two Conditions. One Coordinated Treatment.

Substance use and mental health aren’t separate problems — so we don’t treat them separately.

Most people who struggle with drugs or alcohol are also carrying depression, anxiety, trauma, or another condition underneath. Dual diagnosis care at Guardian Recovery puts psychiatric treatment and addiction treatment in the same plan, the same team, and the same day — because that’s the only way either one actually resolves.

Relapse Prevention

A personalized plan and practical tools to recognize triggers, manage cravings, and protect recovery long after treatment ends.

CBT & DBT

Cognitive and dialectical behavior therapies that build practical skills for cravings, stress, and relapse prevention.

Individual & Group Therapy

One-on-one sessions to go deep, and a recovery community that reminds you you’re not alone.

Trauma-Informed Care

Care that addresses what happened to you — not just what you’ve been using to cope with it.

Family Therapy

Structured sessions that help families heal together and learn how to support lasting recovery.

Whole-Person Supports

Mindfulness, nutrition, movement, and rest — restoring the body while the mind heals.

Levels of Care

Care That Meets You Where You Are.

One connected path — tap each step to see what it actually looks like.

Medical Detox

Round-the-clock medical care to clear substances safely and comfortably — physicians and 24/7 nursing manage withdrawal so you never go through it alone. The essential first step.

Often 5–10 days

Dual Diagnosis

When It’s More Than Addiction, We Treat Both.

Anxiety, depression, trauma, and bipolar disorder often drive substance use — treating one without the other rarely holds.

Our integrated approach

From day one, the same clinical team treats your substance use and your mental health as one condition — because for most people, they are. No bouncing between providers, no contradictory plans.

  • One coordinated team — therapists and prescribers share a single plan.
  • Trauma-informed therapy — CBT, DBT, and EMDR-trained clinicians.
  • Built into every level of care — detox through outpatient.

Psychiatry on staff

Board-certified psychiatric providers evaluate, diagnose, and manage medication throughout treatment — so co-occurring conditions are actually treated, not just noted on a chart.

Cost & Payment

What Treatment Actually Costs You.

For most families with insurance, treatment costs far less than they fear — and we tell you the real number before you commit.

We verify your benefits free

In minutes we check your plan and tell you exactly what’s covered — deductible, copay, and out-of-pocket max.

In-network with most major plans

Coverage with BCBS, Aetna, Cigna / Evernorth, UnitedHealthcare and more often brings your cost to little or nothing.

Out-of-network? We can still help

Many out-of-network plans still cover a large share of treatment. One quick check tells us what yours will do.

“I was terrified of detox. The nurses checked on me constantly, the bed was comfortable, and for the first time in years I actually slept. I left with a plan — and I’ve stuck to it.”

Common Questions

Answers Before You Call.

What is dual diagnosis, exactly?

A dual diagnosis (or co-occurring disorder) means a substance use disorder and a mental health condition — like depression, anxiety, PTSD, or bipolar disorder — happening at the same time. Each makes the other worse, which is why they have to be treated together.

Which gets treated first — the addiction or the mental health?

Both, together. Withdrawal is stabilized first for safety, but psychiatric care begins immediately alongside addiction treatment. Treating one and waiting on the other is the pattern that keeps people relapsing.

Will I see a psychiatric provider?

Yes. Evaluation by a psychiatric provider is part of dual diagnosis care, with medication management where appropriate and follow-up through every level of care.

How much does dual diagnosis treatment cost?

For most people with insurance, dual diagnosis treatment can be covered in full or in large part. We verify your exact benefits for free before you commit to anything, and we offer self-pay rates and financing for those without coverage.

Will anyone find out I’m in treatment?

No. Your care is protected by federal privacy law (HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2). We never share information with employers, family, or anyone else without your written consent.

What happens after detox?

Detox is the beginning, not the destination. Before you discharge, your clinical team builds your next step with you — residential care, PHP, IOP, or outpatient — so the progress you make continues without interruption.

Step into a Brighter Day.

One confidential call can change everything.
